projectCABRÓN is our OWN little way of addressing some of the issues of sustainability in the Agave industry. Our intention is to play a role in contributing towards the protection of the biodiversity of the Agave plant, soil health, water sustainability, carbon footprint and to help support communities.
Since the early idea of El Cabrón we focussed on three core pillars, Quality, Sustainability, Community. Officially launching in March 2023 we have now set in motion projectCABRÓN, for which we plant a wild Agave for every bottle of El Cabrón purchased. Wild Agave is not grown commercially. in contrast over-harvesting the most popular species challenges the biodiversity of the plant and richness of the soil where it grows.
With over 200 species of Agave our intention is to contribute towards the replenishment of this diversity by planting as many different species as we can in unfarmed lands. The project is overseen by our dedicated team of experienced farmers in Oaxaca. From Cuishes, Tobalas and 25 year mature Tepeztates, we plant different Agaves to contribute towards the preservation of Agave biodiversity.
